This item did not improve FM reception on my Pioneer receiver. I returned it and purchased the Terk non amplified version which worked much better.
My wife complained that the FM stations she wanted to listen to out at the pool, would fade in and out. Now she is happy which means everyone is happy. Received the Terk Fm-4000 Antenna within 4 days and it has performed flawlessly. They now come in crystal clear.
I would return mine but I waited too long to try it so now I'm stuck with it. Plugged this in and completely lost half the stations I was getting with the rigged up wire antenna. It picks the stations up, but with static. So don't waste your time or money, get a $3.99 dipole wire antenna, it will work better. I got one of these hoping to pick up some of the local DFW radio stations a little better. Currently using just a 10 foot length of speaker wire. Turned up to full power, just static.
It was fairly easy to install and satisfactory to use. The product does what it was purchased to do; increase the efficiency of our radio/stero system. The delivery was prompt and all components were in good order when received.
The rabbit ears I used before were so bulky that they restricted the locations I could try. The Terk Edge fits into many more spaces.
Because many people return small powered antennae, I got an "open box return" discount along with better reception. The radio frequency interference (RFI) is at a null.
With patience, I found a sweet spot where the local static did not exist. Since the rabbit ears are 3 feet long, most of it was outside of the quiet zone. This small antenna allowed more flexibility and that made all the difference.
In my city office, I was picking up lots of static and the Terk Edge solved my problem. The rabbit ears were nearly horizontal too.
The best location is within 6 inches of much worse reception (in all directions).
